Career in Community Care
A snapshot of community care roles — supporting people in their homes and communities.
HEY LSIP followed up on the presentation by Skills for Care at the employer forum in November by joining the latest meeting of the Registered Managers Network.

LSIP Chair Phil
Ascough accepted the invitation from Bethany Simmonds, one of the presenters at
the employer forum, to connect with members of the Network, which is all about
connecting, sharing knowledge, and supporting each other with challenges.
Phil briefed members
of the Network about the role of the LSIP in putting employers at the heart of the
local skills system and supporting workforce development.
He also reported on
the value of the presentation at the forum by Bethany, Locality Manager
(Yorkshire, Humber & North East) at Skills for Care, and her colleague
Angela Thompson, Transformation Lead for the region.
He said: “In addition
to leading our programme of employer forums, workshops and round table
discussions we try to take every opportunity to meet people who are involved in
skills and training.
“Attending the
Network enabled us to sit down with professionals who are in the front line of providing
services in care homes in our area. It was helpful to hear about the challenges
they face, how they respond and what sort of support they need to build their
workforce.
“The session also
reinforced some of the key messages we heard from Bethany and Angela at the
forum about the importance of investing skills and training to keep people
healthy, and the cost of failing to do that.”
